our repentance and confession marries God’s forgiveness to produce something for God’s building

October 10, 2011 by aGodMan 1 Comment

In a way, if in our Christian life we didn’t have a great failure – something that we do which makes the other saints shake their head when they think about it – we cannot say we have experienced a great repentance matched by God’s forgiveness… No, we don’t want to say, Let us do evil so that good may later come. We don’t want to tempt God nor do we desire to willingly fail, but we may fail and commit a great sin – we may have a great failure – and there will be a deep repentance that will follow.

As individual Christians we can experience God and enjoy God only in a limited way, but when we grow and realise that spirituality is a Body matter and that the Triune God is mingled witht he church as the Body of Christ, we will see that our God is the God of the Body of Christ, the God of the House of God! God is not just the God IN the house of God, but the God OF the house of God, the God who makes Himself known as our enjoyment only when we are built into His house as His dwelling place.

praising Christ in the sweetness of His virtues and praising the church as the queen in her beauty

September 30, 2011 by aGodMan 2 Comments

In Psalm 45 there is an extensive praising of Christ as the King and the church as the queen. The psalmist praises Christ in the sweetness of His virtues, especially in verse 8, “All Your garments smell of myrrh and aloes, of cassia; from palaces of ivory, harpstrings have made You glad“. What a poetic […]

Hear and see, forget and stretch forward to gain Christ now: the King will desire your beauty!

Psalm 45 is a psalm about Christ – praising Christ as the King. In this psalm we see a direct praise of Christ as the King and also an indirect praise of Christ by the psalmist praising the queen (the wife of the king), the daughters of the kings, and the sons of the king(the overcoming saints in the church). As a human being, a man needs a wife and children to be complete; in the same way, Christ is not a bachelor – He is the King with the queen and all the children! To praise Christ in a complete way, we must say something about Himself, about His queen, and about His children. Christ’s glory is seen in Christ Himself in the Gospels, in the church in the Epistles, and in the overcomers in Revelation. Praise the Lord for Christ, the church, and the overcoming saints!

My heart overflows with a good matter; I speak what I have composed concerning the King(Psalm 45)

This week we are coming to Psalm 45 where we see Christ as King and the church, the believers, and the overcomers as the queen. Christ as the King is praised both directly (His fairness, victory, majesty, kingdom, and sweetness) and indirectly(by praising the church, the overcomers, and the believers as the queen). I love […]

September 24, 2011 by aGodMan 2 Comments

Psalm 23 is a psalm on God’s economy, and God’s economy has as its goal the church, the house of God! The last verse in Psalm 23 therefore says, Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of Jehovah for the length of […]
