We have the prophetic word made more firm, to which we do well to give heed as to a lamp shining in a dark place until the day dawns and Christ as the morning star rises in our hearts; in this dark age, we need to be in God’s word in a living way and allow the Word to shine on us in our path, being watchful and seeking the Lord until He comes secretly to rapture us.
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us the prophetic word. We want to read and pray Your word. We remain in Your word. We hold Your word. We do not hold to anything else but Your word. Shine on us through Your word. May the prophetic word be made more firm. May we give heed to the prophetic word as to a lamp shining in a dark place! Amen, Lord, may soon the day dawn and Christ as the morning star rise in our hearts! Amen!
As we live at the end of this age, yearning for the Lord to return with His kingdom, we need to take the Lord’s coming as an incentive and a warning in our daily living so that we may be faithful and prudent slaves working for the Lord and living before Him.
On the one hand, we need to be like the pure virgins in Matthew 25 who prepare their lamps, have extra oil in their vessels, and await the Lord’s coming. This means that we need to love the Lord, open to Him, and gain more of the Spirit not only in our spirit but also in our soul by being transformed and filled with the Spirit.
On the other hand, we need to be faithful and prudent slaves who serve the Lord according to His revelation. We should not be evil slaves who do not do business for the Lord, thinking that the Lord delays His coming and that He is a strict Master. Oh, Lord Jesus!
We all will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and we will give the Lord an account concerning all our past living, walking, and conduct.
We need to be before Him, live one with Him, and serve Him; even more, our serving and work for the Lord should not be according to our preference or feeling but according to His revelation and for the doing of the Father’s will.
We all want to receive the Lord’s “well done, good and faithful servant; enter into the joy of your Master” at the judgment seat of Christ.
May we open to the Lord, come to Him in His word, and depend on Him in all things so that He may live in us, we may serve in Him, and He would gain our daily living and our work for Him.
Thank the Lord that we are eternally saved; now we want to live and work for the Lord in such a way that our living and work are approved by Him and even rewarded by Him at His coming.
Give Heed to the Prophetic Word as to a Lamp Shining in a Dark Place until Christ as the Morning Star Rises in our Heart

Even though the Lord Jesus is not with us physically, as He was with the disciples when He was on earth, we have His word.
2 Peter 1:19 is a very encouraging verse saying, We have the prophetic word made more firm, to which you do well to give heed as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Before the Lord comes back, the age is becoming darker and darker, and we live in an increasingly corrupt, corrupting, and evil world. Even more, there’s darkness in our soul; there’s the abyss in our being, and darkness lies over the deepest parts of our soul.
We need to allow the Lord’s word to shine on us and within us. We need to give heed to the prophetic word as to a lamp shining in a dark place. As we come to the Lord in His word, His word becomes a lamp to our feet (Psa. 119:105). He shines on us. He exposes the darkness in our being.
The darkness of our human concepts is exposed and eliminated by the Lord’s living word. We should not be afraid to come to the Lord in His word.
We should not be reluctant to come to the Lord’s shining in His word. His shining comes in love; we are in the kingdom of the Son of God’s love, and as He shines and exposes, we confess, and the Lord goes deeper. He wants to go deeper in us.
He wants to shine over the darkness in our being and dispel all the darkness so that His light may bring in life. The apostle Peter likens the word of prophecy in the Scripture to a lamp shining in a dark place.
This indicates that this age we live in, especially these days at the end of this age, is a dark place in the dark night (Rom. 13:12), and all the people in this world are moving and acting in darkness.
The more you grow up in this world, the more you realise that the age is becoming darker; the situation today is much darker than it was twenty or thirty years ago.
On the negative side, all the people in this world are moving and acting in darkness; on the positive side, the saints all over the earth are becoming light in the Lord, shining in this dark age as they give heed to the prophetic word as to a lamp shining in a dark place.
The prophetic word of the Scripture, as the shining lamp to the believers, conveys spiritual light that shines in our darkness.
The word is not merely knowledge in letters for our mental apprehension; it conveys spiritual light, and as we read and pray God’s word, we are enlightened!
The living and shining word of God guides us to enter into a bright day, even to pass through the dark night until the day of the Lord’s appearing dawns. The Lord is shepherding us by taking an all-inclusive, tender care of us.
He wants to deal not only with our sins or weaknesses; He wants to deal with and dispel all the darkness in our being, even to reach the deepest and darkest part of our being. He does it in a personal and tender way.
We simply need to tell Him, Lord, I open to You; I hold nothing back. Have access to every part of my being. Shine on me through Your word. Work Yourself into me in this age. Go to the depths of my being and change my darkness into light.
As we converse with the Lord in this way, offering Him many prayers and opening to Him, He will dawn in our inner being, and we will gain Him as the morning star. Before the Lord dawns, before He comes as the sunlight, we need this word as light to shine over our footsteps.
We are walking on our Christian path, and we need the Lord’s word to shine on us, expose us, dispel all the darkness, and infuse us with what He is.
As we go to work, as we do this and that, as we live in our family and practice the church life, we need to open to the Lord’s shining through His word.
We need to give heed to the prophetic word as to a lamp shining in a dark place, exercising our spirit to take God’s word not in the way of knowledge but in the way of life and light (John 6:63, 57).
It is easy to read the Bible and think we know what it means, but it is not easy to have God’s shining.
He wants to shine in the dark place of our mind, emotion, and will. He wants to rise as the morning star in us. May we be aware that the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life (2 Cor. 3:6), and may we take heed to the prophetic word, having this word made more firm! Amen!
Lord Jesus, praise You for the prophetic word which is being made more firm! We want to give heed to the prophetic word as to a lamp shining in a dark place. We read Your word. We come to You in Your word. Shine on us through Your word. Oh Lord, may the prophetic word be made more firm in us. May we be under Your shining as we read and pray over Your word. Your word is a lamp unto our feet. Expose any darkness in us through Your living and shining word. Amen, Lord, shine in the darkness of our being. Expose any dark place. May we take heed to Your word, praying and prayerfully considering Your word until all the darkness in our being is dispelled. Have access, dear Lord, to the darkest part of our being. Bring our whole being into the light. May we receive spiritual light to shine in our darkness. Guide us by Your word to enter into a bright day! May we pass through the dark night until the day of the Lord’s appearing dawns! Oh Lord, appear to us as the morning star! Rise up as the morning star in our hearts as we heed the prophetic word!
Being Enlightened by the Word of the Scripture, we Earnestly Seek the Lord’s Presence and are Watchful not to Miss the Lord’s Secret Coming to Rapture us

How we thank the Lord for His shining in His word! His word is not only a lamp to our feet, guiding us on the path in our Christian life, but His word is enlightening us for us to seek the Lord’s presence and be watchful not to miss the Lord’s secret coming to rapture us! Amen!
We live in a very dark age, even the darkest part of the night, which is right befor the Lord’s coming. Outwardly, the world is darker and darker, and the whole society is in collapse.
Not only is democracy collapsing, but every system is being exposed as being evil, unjust, and immoral, and violence and evil prevail everywhere.
Even among the people of God, in the so-called churches around the world, there is so much degradation.
And even among us in the church life, as we practice the church life in the Lord’s recovery, seeking the Lord and enjoying Him with the saints, we have to admit that there is still so much darkness and degradation.
We all need to give heed to the prophetic word until the day dawns and the morning star rises in our heart.
We need to be illuminated and enlightened by giving heed to the shining word of the prophecy of Scripture.
This doesn’t merely mean that we should know the prophecies and watch to see how the world situation is aligning with the Lord’s speaking in His word so that we may determine clearly when the Lord is coming.
Rather, we need to be enlightened by the word in the Scripture and earnestly seek the Lord’s presence, being in His presence as we take heed to the prophetic word, so that we may be watchful.
We do not want to miss the Lord’s secret coming. We want to be stolen by Him in the secret part of His parousia, His coming in secret, when He comes as a thief (Matt. 24:27; 2 Thes. 2:8).
The Lord is coming soon, and when He comes, the age of the kingdom will come in; in that age, Christ will be the Sun of righteousness (Mal. 4:2) whose light will shine to break through the gloom of the dark night of this age.
But before that time, as we live in the darkest hour of the night, the Lord wants to rise up in us as the morning star, even to appear to us as the morning star (Rev. 2:28; 22:16). He wants to gain some who are watchful and looking for His dear appearing (2 Tim. 4:8).
Such ones are enlightened by the shining of the prophetic word, which is able to lead them to the dawning day. May we be such ones today.
May we be enlightened by the prophetic word as we give heed to it as to a lamp shining in a dark place.
May we realise that the entire world today is a dark place and this present age is a dark night. If we did not have the prophecies of the Bible, we also would be in darkness, for we would not have a lamp.
But as we give heed to the prophetic word as a lamp, light shines in the darkness and we receive the shining of the light. Our morning time with the Lord is very important.
We need to have His appearing every day. We need to touch Him in a living way in His word; we may even ask Him to awaken us in the morning and attune our ear to hear His word. As we give heed to the prophetic word, we receive the shining of the light.
This light shines and shines until, eventually, a spiritual day dawns within us, and a morning star rises in our hearts. How we yearn for the day to break and for the Lord as the morning star to rise in our hearts!
May we be those who are encouraged by the prophetic word to seek the Lord, even earnestly seek His presence, and be watchful so that we don’t miss His secret coming.
Lord Jesus, we want to do well to give heed to the prophetic word until the day dawns and the morning star rises in our hearts. Shine in us, dear Lord, through Your word. We want to be illuminated and enlightened by giving heed to the shining word of the prophecy of Scripture. Shine through the darkness of apostasy until the day dawns on us. May we be encouraged by Your word to earnestly seek the Lord’s presence. Amen, Lord, we seek You and we earnestly seek Your presence. We want to be watchful so that we do not miss Your coming secretly to steal those who overcome. May we have Christ as the morning star rise in our hearts! Amen, Lord, may Your light shine to break through the gloom of the dark night of this age! We seek You. We want to see You face to face. We want to remain in Your presence. May we be those who are watchful and looking for Your dear appearing! Amen, Lord, rise up in us as the morning star! Keep us one spirit with You today!

– I come to His presence afresh / Ere the night has passed into morning; / And His face I see as it shines on me— / The Lord within is dawning. / And He speaks to me and reveals to me / All His riches for me today; / And with sweet delight I partake of Him, / My hunger has passed away. (Hymns #554 stanza 1)
– Soon our Lord will come, the Morning Star appear; / Night is deep, and soon will dawn the day. / Never with the current of the age we go, / That from trials we’ll be kept away. / Soon our Lord will come His servants to reward; / Those who love Him then the crown will share. / Watchful we must be and treasure not the world, / Love and serve the Lord, His burden bear. (Hymns #956 stanzas 2-3)
– Thou also art the Morning Star / To us as a reward; / While still ’tis dark it shines with light / To those who love the Lord. / Lord, help us e’er to love Thy light / And see things from afar; / And look for Thee in watch and prayer / As for the Morning Star. (Hymns #200 stanzas 6-7)
