Learning the Lesson of Offering Back to God what He has Given us and Rely only on God

May 13, 2014 by aGodMan 1 Comment

Heb. 11:17 By faith Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Indeed he who gladly received the promises was offering up his only begotten.

Abraham learned the lesson of offering back to God what He has given him. In Gen. 22:1-18 we see that God asked Abraham to bring his beloved son, his only son, Isaac, as a burnt offering on one of the mountains in Moriah. Even though Isaac was born through grace and he was from God, […]

Our Enjoyment of Christ in the Church Life Produces us as a Burnt Offering for God

Gen. 22:2 And He said, Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.

The God of Abraham is our God, and Abraham’s experience of God needs to become our experience of God in our Christian life today. According to Rom. 4:17, Abraham had a twofold knowledge of God: first, he knew God as the One who calls things not being as being, and then he experienced God as […]

Enjoying and Experiencing God as the Eternal One by Calling on the Name of the Lord

Before the mountains were brought forth, And before You gave birth to the earth and the world, Indeed from eternity to eternity, You are God. (Psa. 90:2)

Our God is one, yet He is the Triune God. He is one, yet He has many names depending on our experience and enjoyment of Him. He is called Jehovah in His relationship with man, in coming to be with man and caring for man, especially in the Old Testament. He is the Most High […]

Eat the Tree of Life and Drink the Water of Life to be a Tamarisk Tree in the Church Life

Gen. 21:33, And Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and there he called on the name of Jehovah, the Eternal God.

The Bible doesn’t record insignificant matters and stories; rather, everything that the Bible says is true, significant, full of meaning, and has a place in God’s economy. In Gen. 21 we see that Abraham fought for the well he dug and was taken by force, and he obtained it back by redeeming it and making […]

There are Two Sources issuing in Two Kinds of Living in our Christian Life

May 5, 2014 by aGodMan 1 Comment

Today there are two kinds of Christians: One kind is like Ishmael, living for themselves in the wilderness of their soul and being joined to the world. The other kind is like Isaac, living for God in their spirit and in the church life and being brought to Zion. Even we, real Christians, may be like Ishmael, living in and for ourselves and being joined to the world, unless, as typified by Isaac, we live in our spirit and in the church life so that we might reach God’s goal (1 John 2:15-17; Romans 8:4; 12:4-5; 16:1; Revelation 14:1. 21:2; 22:16a). W. Lee, Life-study of Genesis

In Genesis 21 we see two wells: the well of Abraham and the well of Ishmael. A well is the source of man’s living, supplying man with water for his daily life. The two wells in Genesis 21 signify two sources of living. The first well, Abraham’s well (which later became the well of Isaac […]

Having the Proper Standing when Enjoying the Grace of God for the Kingdom of God

May 4, 2014 by aGodMan 1 Comment

And Jehovah appeared to him the same night and said, I am the God of Abraham your father. Do not be afraid, for I am with you, and I will bless you and multiply your seed for My servant Abraham's sake. And he built an altar there and called upon the name of Jehovah and pitched his tent there. And there Isaac's servants dug a well. Gen. 26:24-25

Isaac was a pattern of one who enjoyed God’s grace again and again. His father Abraham gave him all that he had, and God blessed Isaac abundantly. Wherever he went, Isaac prospered and increased. All he did was just to enjoy grace, and God blessed him. However, we see something very interesting about him: even […]

Knowing Christ as the High Priest in His Heavenly Ministry and Cooperating with Him

April 3, 2014 by aGodMan 1 Comment

Heb. 7:25 Hence also He is able to save to the uttermost those who come forward to God through Him, since He lives always to intercede for them.

Who is this “Melchizedek” and why is Christ a “High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek”? In the Old Testament we see a lot about the priesthood according to the order of Aaron, but what about this Melchizedek? Also, as believers in Christ today, how can we cooperate with our interceding High Priest, Christ […]
