For the church to be in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ means that the church is in the processed Triune God, where the Father is the source and the One who purposes, the Son is the One who accomplishes the Father’s plan, and the Spirit applies everything to our being as the church.
Hallelujah for the church in the Triune God! Lord, may we not take it for granted that the church is in the Triune God! May we abide in the Lord and let Him abide in us! May we remain in our spirit today so that we may be in the Triune God and the Triune God would be expressed through us! Amen!
This week, we have been enjoying prayerfully what it means for the church to be in the Triune God, as seen in 1 Thessalonians 1:1, together with some portions in the book of 1 John.
First of all, we see that the structure of the New Testament is the Triune God, and we can come to know the Triune God not merely by knowing about Him but by experiencing Him and enjoying Him.
The Triune God is not only the object of our faith; He is and should be our experience and enjoyment. The Triune God is not merely the One who is on the throne, being universally vast, but He is also the One in our heart.
Hallelujah, we can know the Triune God in the personal realm of our heart! This is what the New Testament shows us; the whole Bible is composed of and structured with the Divine Trinity.
The Triune God is not only for our knowledge and appreciation but even more, for us to enjoy and experience today so that we may become His corporate expression today and for eternity! Amen!
When Paul wrote his first epistle to the Thessalonians, he said, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
On the one hand, the church in Thessalonica was of the Thessalonians, for the Thessalonian believers composed the church. On the other hand, this church was in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ.
This means that the church is not only of the people, for it is composed of the believers in Christ; the church is in the Triune God. Wow, the church is in the Triune God!
We truly need the Lord’s light to shine on us and show us what this means.
We may think we understand this, but when the Lord shines on us, when we see what He means when the Bible says that the church is in the Triune God, our appreciation and enjoyment of the church will be highly uplifted. Amen!
May we continue to be under the Lord’s shining to appreciate the church and love the church, even to be the church in the Triune God as we remain in our mingled spirit day by day.
The Church is in the Triune God: the Father Plans, Originates, and Purposes, the Son Accomplishes everything, and the Spirit Executes and Applies

The New Testament shows us how God is Triune; even though the term, Triune God, is never used in the Bible, what we see is that God is three yet one, one yet three.
In His person and essence, God is one yet three; in His work and economy, God is one yet three. It is truly amazing to see this!
God the Father wants to have many sons; He is concerned with the sonship, for He wants to obtain many sons who are conformed to the image of Christ, His Firstborn Son, to express Him corporately (Rom. 8:29).
God the Father wants to beget many children, and the more children He has, the happier He is.
For this, God the Father has a purpose, a definite purpose. In the divine economy, the three of the Divine Trinity work and are manifested respectively in three consecutive stages (see Eph. 1:3-14).
The Father is the One who plans, originates, and initiates (vv. 3-6). God the Father has the master plan, and He is the originator and initiator of this plan.
According to His plan, God selected and predestinated us to become His many children according to his purpose.
This is something that only God the Father can do, not God the Son or God the Spirit.
God is the unique Initiator and Originator; He is the originator of the church, and the church is begotten of God the Father.
We cannot be the initiator or originator in anything; we need to take the Father as the unique initiator.
In our Christian life and church life, we need to know and experience God the Father as the One who initiates and is the source of everything.
Especially as we serve the Lord and coordinate with the saints, we need to take the Father as the source.
We should have the unique purpose of the Father, the unique plan of the Father; we cannot initiate or originate anything. The church is in God the Father.
Also, the church is in the Lord Jesus Christ. According to the New Testament, the Son came to accomplish everything that the Father has planned, originated, and initiated (vv. 7-12).
The Father’s plan and purpose were accomplished by Christ. He came to express the Father, do the will of the Father, and accomplish everything that the Father wants to do.
He embodies the fullness of the Godhead, and He is the Father’s Beloved; He came and He is still coming to do what the Father wants to do. Christ took God as His source and Initiator, and He did not do anything of Himself but only what the Father told Him to do.
Through His death on the cross, Christ terminated sin, the flesh, the natural man, the natural life, the old creation, death, and Satan.
For us to be the church in the Lord Jesus Christ means that everything negative in us has been terminated.
When we enjoy the Lord Jesus Christ, everything negative in us is put to death, and Christ becomes all and in all! Amen!
The Father plans and originates. The Son accomplishes everything the Father has purposed, planned, initiated, and originated.
And the Spirit is the Executor; the Spirit executes and applies what the Father has planned and what the Son has accomplished (vv. 13-14).
The Spirit came from the Father with the Son, and the Spirit applies to us everything that the Father has planned and Christ the Son has accomplished.
The Spirit doesn’t do His own work; the Spirit executes and carries out what the Father planned and the Son accomplished. Amazing!
We need to see how the Triune God works together and is one, even working in three consecutive stages, to accomplish God’s eternal economy.
The church is in the Triune God. Selection is of the Father, deliverance is of the Son, and imparting or propagating is of the Spirit (1 Thes. 1:3-6, 10).
When the Son comes, He comes with the Father and by the Spirit; the Son today is realised as the Spirit, and the Spirit comes as the Son with the Father (John 14:26; 15:26).
It is in this Triune God that we as the church are today.
This Triune God is not for our understanding or mental apprehension but for our enjoyment and experience in spirit today. Hallelujah!
Lord Jesus, cause us to see that the church is in the Triune God! Amen, Lord, may we realise that, in the divine economy, the three of the Divine Trinity work and are manifested respectively in three consecutive stages. Hallelujah, the Father is the One who plans, originates, and initiates! Thank You, Father God, for planning, originating, and initiating everything, including our salvation! Thank You for selecting us and choosing us even before the world began! Amen, Lord Jesus, praise You for coming as the Son to accomplish everything that the Father has planned, originated, and initiated! Hallelujah, Christ came to do the will of the Father and to accomplish a perfect and all-inclusive redemption! Praise the Lord, we as the church are in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ! Praise the Lord, the Spirit comes to execute and apply everything that the Father has planned and the Son has accomplished! Hallelujah, we are in the Triune God, and the Triune God is for our enjoyment and experience today!
The Church is in the Processed Triune God, in the One who has become the Life-giving Spirit with the Father and the Son

1 Thessalonians 1:1 tells us that the church is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ; this means that the church is in the processed Triune God (Matt. 28:19; Eph. 4:4-6).
Wow, the church is in the processed Triune God! The church is not merely in God; rather, the church is in the processed Triune God (see 2 Cor. 13:14).
The church cannot be in God, for God is not enterable; however, God went through a process to become the life-giving Spirit with the Father and the Son, and in the processed Triune God, we can enter and live.
The church is not merely a group of religious people who read the Bible and obey what God tells them to do in the good book; the church is in the processed Triune God.
In Genesis chapter 1 we see God; this God is the unprocessed God, and we cannot have a life-relationship with this One.
However, in the New Testament God has become the processed Triune God (see John 7:37-39; Phil. 1:19).
God went through a process; in His economy, God became a man – the Word became flesh.
Furthermore, as a man in the flesh, Christ, as the last Ada,m became a life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45). Wow!
When we say that God was processed we mean that God went through some steps to become something.
In His divine economy, God passed through incarnation, human living, crucifixion, and resurrection.
Wow, God not only became a man, but He also lived as a man, He died as a man, He was buried as a man, and He was resurrected as a man!
In the crucifixion, the Lord Jesus accomplished redemption, the termination of the old creation, and the destruction of Satan and death (see Eph. 1:17; Rom. 6:6; Heb. 2:14).
And in His resurrection, something amazing happened: He became a life-giving Spirit, we were regenerated as the many sons of God, and He became the firstborn Son of God, being begotten by God in His humanity! Hallelujah!
In His resurrection, Christ germinated the new creation (2 Cor. 5:17). Now He is the life-giving Spirit as the ultimate consummation of the processed Triune God (1 Cor. 15:45; 2 Cor. 3:17).
It is in this processed Triune God that the church can be today; we as the church are in the processed Triune God.
The church is in the processed Triune God, in the One who has become the life-giving Spirit with the Father and the Son.
The Lord Jesus prophesied concerning this in John 14:20 when He said that, on that day – the day of His resurrection – all will know that He is in the Father, the Father is in the Son, and we are in the Father and in the Son.
Hallelujah, in His resurrection, we all, the many believers in Christ, were regenerated to have God’s life and nature, and we were brought into the processed Triune God to be the church in the Triune God!
The processed Triune God reached us, saved us, and brought us into Himself.
The Father is in the Son, and the Son is now the life-giving Spirit dwelling in us (John 14:10-11, 16-17, 20).
When we are in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, we are in the Spirit; thus, we are the church in the processed Triune God.
May the Lord grant us a vision of what this means in our daily Christian life and church life.
Each one of us, the believers in Christ, has been chosen by God the Father, redeemed by God the Son, and sanctified by God the Spirit; furthermore, we have been brought into the processed Triune God to be the church in the Triune God.
If we see the vision of the church in the Triune God, this vision will control our thinking, our activities, and our entire life; however, if we lack this vision, we lack restraint (Prov. 29:18; Acts 26:19).
This is the vision that governed the apostle Paul, and this is the vision that should govern us today.
When we see the Grand Canyon, we will be amazed, for this vision is so marvellous. But if we see a little bug crawling around our feet, this is not something extraordinary.
Seeing a vision means having an extraordinary scene shown to us.
When we see the vision of the church in the processed Triune God, our whole lifestyle will be changed.
Our being will have an inward turn. This vision will cause our life to be full of meaning and purpose. The vision of the church in the processed Triune God will motivate us and energise us.
Also, this vision will govern us and restrict us. This vision will give us endurance, and it will preserve us.
The heavenly vision restricts us, controls us, governs us, preserves us, and revolutionises us.
This vision keeps us in the genuine oneness and gives us the boldness and strength to go on. May we have a clear vision of the church in the processed Triune God today.
And may this vision govern our daily living and our service to the Lord in the church life today.
Lord Jesus, grant us to see the heavenly vision of the church being in the processed Triune God. Hallelujah, for the church to be in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ means that the church is in the processed Triune God! Thank You, Lord, for going through a process in Your economy to accomplish what the Father planned and carry it out through the Spirit in our life. Praise the Lord, Christ became a man, went through human living, death, resurrection, and ascension to be the life-giving Spirit! Amen, Lord, may we see that we today as the church are in the One who has become the life-giving Spirit with the Father and the Son! Wow, the processed Triune God reaches us, contacts us, and is applied to us in our experience by the life-giving Spirit! Praise the Lord, the Father is in the Son, and the Son is now the life-giving Spirit dwelling in us! Amen, Lord, keep us in our spirit today! May we see the vision of the church in the processed Triune God. May this vision control our thinking, our activities, and our entire life!

- Hymns on this topic:
– How rich the source, the Father as the fountain, / And all this wealth He wants man to enjoy! / O blessed fact, this vast exhaustless portion / Is now for us forever to employ! / How wonderful, the Son is God’s expression / Come in the flesh to dwell with all mankind! / Redemption’s work, how perfectly effective, / That sinners we with God might oneness find. / The Spirit is the Son’s transfiguration / Come into us as life the full supply. / Amazing fact, our spirit with the Spirit / Now mingles and in oneness joins thereby! (Hymns #608 stanzas 2-4)
– Now the Triune God has come to dwell within / As the wonderful Spirit in us. / We are mingled with the Lord, we’re one with Him / As the life-giving Spirit in us. / Oh, He’s the wonderful Spirit in us, / He’s the wonderful Spirit in us! / God is in the Son, the Son’s the Spirit now— / He’s the wonderful Spirit in us! (Hymns #1113 stanza 1 and chorus)
– By this the very Triune God is now / The living Spirit mingling deep within. / Our spirit joins in oneness; this is how / We are one spirit evermore with Him. / ’Tis by this Spirit that we walk and act, / We have our being, think, and see all things; / We’re now within this Spirit! What a fact! / This Spirit to us all God’s fullness brings! (Hymns #1195 stanzas 7-8)

Life-study of 1 Thessalonians, pp. 66-67, by Witness Lee
Dear brother, the God in whom the church is – this One is the Triune God, even the processed Triune God!
The Father is the Source and Planner, and the One who chooses and predestines us. The Son was incarnated to accomplish redemption and carry out God’s plan. The Spirit comes to apply all that the Father planned and the Son accomplished.
As the church, we are in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ, for God in Christ as the Spirit is in our spirit and we are in the processed Triune God!
Hallelujah, as the church, we are hidden in God in Christ as the Spirit Who lives in our spirit as the mingled Spirit! For our living to express Your will, we open our being in prayer and fellowship daily for Your leading!
Amen, Lord Jesus.
The Father plans, the Son accomplishes, and the Spirit executes.
The processed Triune God is applied to us through the Spirit, the church is in such a Triune God, amen
Amen. Lord, keep us in our mingled spirit.
Hallelujah, as the church, we are hidden in God in Christ as the Spirit Who live in our spirit as the mingled Spirit! For our living to express Your will, we open our being in prayer and fellowship daily for Your leading!
Hallelujah, we’re in God’s purpose, plan, selection & predestination.
We cannot originate/initiate anything. The Father is the originator, the Son is the accomplisher, and the Spirit executes all that the Father has originated and all that the Son has accomplished.
So, the Father is in the Son and the Son is now the life-giving Spirit in us.
When we walk according to the Spirit, we are walking according to the Triune God.
Therefore, the church is in the processed Triune God, the One who has become the life-giving Spirit with the Father and the Son.
Praise the Lord for becoming the processed Triune God.
