If we want to be a man of prayer, we have to learn to pray with authority as we see in Matthew 18 and Mark 11; we need to be one with the Lord and pray for God’s will to be done, uttering God’s desire in our prayer and having God as our faith as we pray, knowing that what we asked for, He will do it.
Lord Jesus, we want to be men of prayer. We open to You. May we learn to pray with authority. Oh Lord, make us those who pray consistently, even pray persistently and continually. We join ourselves to You in prayer. We allow You to pray in us. We pray for God’s will to be done, for we want Your will, not our will. Amen, Lord, Your will be done and Your kingdom come! We take You as our faith and we pray by faith for You to accomplish Your perfect will! Amen!
May we all be brought back to God’s word to see what prayer is and what kind of prayer we should have. There is a particular kind of prayer in the Bible that is much needed today, the prayer of authority.
We ourselves have no authority, for all authority lies with God, and He flows His authority through people; however, we can be joined to the Lord and pray the prayer of authority today.
In the context of Matthew 18, there is a brother who sins and particularly sins against us, and he does not want to listen to you or to you and some other saints, so the Lord said that we should pray with authority.
The Lord wants to recover and restore the sinning brother; He is not after convincing others of their sins to condemn them but rather, He wants us to deal with sin so that we may remain in the fellowship in the Body.
But if someone does not deal with sin and is not open to the fellowship, what should we do? We should come together in vital groups and in the meetings of the church and pray one with the Lord.
We need to pray to bind on earth what has been bound in heaven and loose on earth what has been loosed in heaven.
The Lord in the heavens has already bound and loosed something, and we on earth correspond to Him in prayer.
The prayer of binding and loosing in the prayer of authority; to bind and to loose is to pray with authority.
May we open to the Lord concerning this and may we allow Him to perfect us, train us, and bring us on with Him so that we may pray with authority, according to His will, for Him to restore the backsliding ones and release on earth what has been released in the heavens.
Being One with the Lord to Pray with Authority for God’s Will to be Done on Earth
The prayer in Mark 11:20-24 is a prayer with authority; in this prayer, the Lord tells us that, whoever prays and believes in his heart that he received what he asked for, he will have them. Wow!
Even if we command the mountain to be taken up and cast into the sea, and we don’t doubt in our heart but believe that what we say will happen, we will have what we say. Amen!
Here we see that a prayer with authority doesn’t ask God to do something; instead, it exercises God’s authority and applies this authority to deal with problems and things that ought to be removed (Zech. 4:7; Matt. 21:21).
We need to be one with the Lord in prayer, allowing Him to initiate our prayer. God initiates our prayer with authority; in the process, we are those who cooperate with God, and ultimately God gains all the glory.
We are united with God and cooperate with Him on the earth, allowing God to express Himself through us and accomplish His purpose through us.
It is us who prays, but the Lord is the One who prays in us, and our prayer is surely answered, for it is His prayer in our prayer. However, if we seek only after ourselves and our own desire, we may pray, but we may not be men of prayer.
A man of prayer is a person who cares only for one thing: God’s will to be done.
May we be joined to the Lord and may we remain in the organic union with Him until we care only for God’s will, not for anything else.
The Lord Jesus was such a Person; when He was on the earth, He taught us to pray by saying, Your name be sanctified; Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth (Matt. 6:9-10).
This is the model prayer, the way we should pray today. We pray by desiring God’s will to be done in us and around us. We don’t merely pray for our own living, our health, our business, and our family; such prayers fall short.
We come to the Lord and allow Him to purify our heart so that we may be single in intention and purpose in our prayer.
We want to be single and pure before God; we still are so complicated and mixed within, so we come to the Lord and allow Him to deal with our impure heart.
We want to seek nothing and no one but God and for God’s will to be done. We aspire to be men of prayer who wants God and God’s will; we want His perfect will to be done, not just His permissive will.
As we join ourselves to the Lord in this way and are one with Him in spirit, our prayer will be His prayer, and our command will be the expression of His command.
God has commissioned us to command what He has commanded and give orders to what He has given orders to (Matt. 17:20).
The church can have such a prayer of authority in faith by being joined to the Lord to allow God to release His prayers in our prayers.
May we pray in this way, having no doubt, being clear that what we do is fully according to God’s will.
May we know the will of God, not just His permissive will according to which He may allow us to do certain things and have our way, but He is not happy with this, but His perfect will.
May we be desperate in our daily living to seek what God wants and to live under the perfect will of God. In this age of grace, God allows us to do many things in His submissive will, but at the judgment seat of Christ, we will be judged if we did not do His perfect will.
The Lord Jesus lived for God’s will, did God’s will, and took God’s will as His yoke, being willing to bear it.
When He was praying in Gethsemane, He fellowshipped with God the matter of His death, and He said, If it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. But then He said, Yet not as I will, but as You will (Matt. 26:39).
Here we see a man who prayed for God’s will to be done. He had a will, He desired for this cup to pass from Him, but He chose God’s will.
This is genuine prayer. We have a desire, a will, and an intention, but we open to the Lord and choose His desire, His will, and His intention.
Although it is us praying, we are not asking God to accomplish something for us; we ask Him to accomplish what is in His heart for God’s will to be done.
May we be like the Lord Jesus, the One who lives in us today, to seek nothing for ourselves but our only desire would be for God to prosper and for God’s will to be carried out.
May we be those who want God and His will.
Lord Jesus, teach us to pray the prayer that commands the mountain to move for God’s will to be done. Amen, Lord, we love You, we open to You, and we are one with You! We bring to You what we desire, what we intend, and what we think and will; we open to You. We put ourselves aside and we join ourselves to Your desire through Your word. Father God, Your name be sanctified! Your kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven! May Your perfect will be done in our life. We seek Your will. We desire to do Your will. We do not want merely Your permissive will in which You allow us to do what we want to do; we want Your perfect will. Amen, Lord, may Your will be done today! We want to live a life under the perfect will of God so that we may live Christ for the building up of the church! Amen, Lord, gain Your church, Your Body, consummating in the New Jerusalem! Gain the building up of the church today to prepare Your bride for You to return soon! Amen!
Pray the Prayer of Authority by Faith, Believing that We have Received what we Asked For
In Mark 11:23-24 the Lord said that, when we pray in oneness with the Lord to release His will on the earth, we need to believe that we have received what we have asked for.
Some Christians say that we need faith so that we pray; they say that, when we pray for something, we need to have faith to believe, and God will do it.
How can we have such faith? How can we pray the prayer of authority and be assured that we will have what we asked for?
On the one hand, we pray for God’s will to be done, and we do this in oneness with Him, uttering the commands that He utters and giving the orders that He gives.
On the other hand, we need to realise that faith is not of us but of God in Christ who has infused Himself into us to be our faith.
Many times we pray not in faith or by faith but in hope; we hope that what we pray for will be done. But according to the Lord’s word, we should believe that we have received, not that we will receive one day what we asked for.
We may pray for a particular person in the light of God’s economy, or we may utter some commands before God, one with Him, to deal with the enemy who is bothering a particular person.
As we do this, we need to be filled with God in Christ as faith.
If we want to have faith, we need to be a man of prayer who lives in God, is being dealt with by God is willing to yield to His demands, and who gives permission to His stripping.
He deals with us, He strips us, He lives in us, and we cooperate with Him. As He gains ground in our being and we allow Him to do in us what He wants to do, He fills us with Himself, and we are full of faith.
We don’t need to strive to believe nor do we need to muster up faith or compel ourselves to believe; we simply believe, for we are joined to the Lord and are filled with Him as our faith.
The God to whom we pray is the God who fills us and to whom we’re joined as one spirit; He is moving in us to pray, He initiates the prayer, He is our faith as we pray, and the result is that He gains all the glory.
When we pray in this way, we have the assurance that our prayer is acceptable to Him, is of Him, and is touching Him; He will have to answer such a prayer.
As John 15:7 says, when we pray in the abiding, we are one with the Lord, and He will surely answer such a prayer.
We don’t just expect that something will happen in the future, hoping that one day the Lord will answer our prayer; we believe and are full of faith that He will do what we ask Him to do.
Faith is not only believing that God can do or will do a certain thing but also believing that God has done that thing already. Amen! This is faith!
Faith doesn’t come according to our wish, and faith is not of us or from us.
Faith is God in us filling us to such an extent that we cannot help but have faith.
As we pray by faith for God’s will to be done, we are assured that He will do what He prayed in us to do. Amen!
May we be before the Lord regarding this, even bring this matter to Him, for we want to be men of prayer who touch His heart and cause God’s will to be done on earth.
May we learn to pray the prayer of authority today, the prayer that accomplishes God’s will and which is matched by our faith, God in Christ filling us to be our faith.
Prayer with authority has much to do with the overcomers; every overcomer must learn to speak to “this mountain” (Mark 11:23).
We need to learn to pray by faith for God’s will to be done, thus speaking the prayer of authority, one with the Lord.
All prayers that are expressed in the heavenly realm and from the throne of God are prayers of warfare; he who prays in this way is one who passed through the cross and resurrected and ascended.
Such a one is on the throne, far above the earth, and is not touched by the earthly things.
Such prayers defeat the devil in the air and bring down God’s authority, like Daniel’s prayer.
Lord Jesus, teach us to pray the prayer of authority by faith and in oneness with You. Fill us, Lord, with Yourself as faith. We do not have faith in ourselves, but we open to You. Oh Lord, we want to abide in You and do all things one with You. May we abide in You, live in You, and allow You to have standing in us! Fill us, Lord, and have a full way in our being. We open to Your dealings. We are willing to yield to Your demands. We give permission to You to strip us and deal with us. We just want to be filled with God in Christ as our faith! Amen, Lord, we pray one with You for God’s will to be done. We believe that, whatever we ask for in Your name, the Father will do it! Hallelujah, when we pray the prayer of authority one with the Lord by faith, we have the assurance that God will do what we have asked Him to do! Amen, Lord, may Your will be done! May Your enemy be defeated and put to shame, and may the church be built up for Christ to have an organic Body for His corporate expression! Amen!
