Jesus is Jehovah Our Saviour, the Great I AM Who Is Our Salvation as we Call on Him

And she will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins. Matt. 1:21

The Lord Jesus is our wonderful Jehovah our Saviour, the One who is the I am who I am to be all we need and also the One who saves us from anything negative and brings us into Himself as our rest and enjoyment, for we call on His name and are saved today!

Amen, Lord Jesus, we love You and we love to call on Your name! Jesus Christ is Lord, and we can call on the wonderful name of Jesus! Oh Lord Jesus, You are the great I AM! You are the One who was, who is, and who is coming! You are everything to us! You are our salvation and our life! Praise the Lord! Amen!

This week in our prayerful consideration of the crucial points concerning the all-inclusive Christ seen in Matthew we come to a wonderful topic: Jesus—the King-Saviour’s Name Given by God and Emmanuel—the King-Saviour’s Name Called by Man.

Christ is everything to us not only in a general way but, in our specific condition and situation, He is so applicable, enjoyable, and real to us.

He is the living star shining in our hearts to guide us to Himself. He guides us by His living, up-to-date, instant vision, and He leads us all the way into the enjoyment and experience of Himself as our life and everything.

Christ is also our dear Physician who heals us of our sickness and our lovely Bridegroom who prepares us to be His bride.

On the one hand, we are the weak ones, those who are not strong but rather sick, and we come to the Lord as our Physician to be healed and made whole. Thank the Lord for being our Physician!

On the other hand, the Lord’s goal is not just to heal us but even more, to make us His bride; He is the Bridegroom, and He wants to make us His lovely bride, even the duplication of Himself.

He is coming as the Bridegroom, for He is ready, and we are being prepared to be the bride. May we be those who cooperate with Him today so that we may be prepared to be the bride to go out and meet Him!

This week, we come to two wonderful names given to the Lord. First, Jesus is the name given by God, and Emmanuel is the name called by man.

On God’s side, He called Him Jesus, that is, Jehovah our Saviour and salvation. On our side, when we see the Lord Jesus, we say, This is Emmanuel, for God is with us.

May we be brought into a fresh and dear appreciation of the Lord Jesus as God our Saviour and as God with us!

Jesus is Jehovah, the Great I Am, the One who Is everything we Need Today!

But without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to Him, for he who comes forward to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Heb. 11:6

Who is Jesus? According to the Gospel of Matthew, God said that the child begotten by Mary will be called Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins (Matt. 1:21).

Jesus is the Greek equivalent to the Hebrew name Joshua, which means “Jehovah the Saviour,” or “the salvation of Jehovah.” Jesus is Jehovah becoming our Saviour and our salvation (Rom. 10:12-13; 5:10; Phil. 1:19).

The name Jesus includes the name Jehovah, which means “I Am who I Am,” indicating that Jehovah is the self-existing and ever-existing eternal One.

And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. And He said, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. Exo. 3:14 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is coming, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne. Rev. 1:4He is the One who was in the past, who is in the present, and who will be in the future forever (Exo. 3:14; Rev. 1:4). The name given by God to the One born of Mary with the divine essence is Jesus.

Jesus is Jehovah our Saviour and Salvation. Wow, Jesus is Jehovah God Himself!

When God came to Moses in Exodus to call him to deliver His people, He introduced Himself as the I Am Who I Am, saying, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I am has sent me to you.

God is the eternal One; He was in eternity past, He is today, and He will forever be. He is the I AM; in the past, present, and future, He is.

This is not a small thing, for this has to do with our daily experience.

We human beings have our lives measured by time; we are created beings, but God is not created. He is not dependent on anything or anyone. But we are limited by time and space, so we are always now and here.

But the Lord Jesus is the I AM. When Jesus was on earth, He said, Before Abraham came into being, I AM (John 8:58). He told the Jews, Unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins (v. 24), and, When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I AM (v. 28).

Jesus is Jehovah, the great I AM. Jehovah is the only One who is and who depends on nothing apart from Himself.

We must exercise our spirit of faith to believe that “He is” and we are “not”; Christ is the only One, the unique One, in everything, and we are nothing (Heb. 11:6).

If we come forward to God, we must believe that He is; He not only exists, but He is everything to us, even everything we need at any time and in any place.

As the I AM, Christ is the all-inclusive One, the reality of every positive thing and of whatever we as His people need (John 6:35; 8:12; 10:14; 11:25; 14:6).

When the Lord Jesus was on earth, He said of Himself again and again that He is the bread of life, the living bread, the living water, the food we need, and everything for us.

May we be those who are hungry for the Lord so that He may fill us with the good things of what He is (Luke 1:53).

Christ is the light of the world (John 8:12) and He is the Good Shepherd (10:14). He is the resurrection and the life (11:25).

Whatever we need, He is. If we are down and out, if we’re somewhere in darkness, we can call on the name of the Lord and we enjoy Him as the resurrection life, causing us to come out of where we are and enjoy Him!

If we just call on the name of the Lord, He is what we need. He is like a blank check that is signed, and the amount is to be filled in by us. If we need a million dollars, we can just fill it in, and if we need more, we can get whatever we need.

If we need life, light, holiness, and righteousness, we can find all these in the name of Jesus, for He is the great I AM!

Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall by no means hunger, and he who believes into Me shall by no means ever thirst. John 6:35 Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12When we call on the Lord’s wonderful name, we receive what we need. Everything we need can be found in the name of Jesus. He is the way and the reality and the life.

In our daily life, we need to have a way to go on, we need more life, and we need reality; so we call on the name of the Lord, and He guides us where to go, He is our life, and He is the reality in us, making us real.

Many times we face impossible situations, even situations in which we do not know what to do and where to go. So we call on the name of the Lord Jesus, and He as Jehovah the great I am is everything we need in that situation.

Jesus is our light, our power, our life, our wisdom, our holiness, and our righteousness.

Whatever we need, He is. Many times we call on His name not knowing what we need, and the Lord as the great I am meets our present need. Whatever we need is found in the name of Jesus.

We can take the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord; by calling on His name, we drink of Him as the cup of salvation.

May we practice enjoying the Lord Jesus by calling on His name day by day, even moment by moment!

Lord Jesus, unveil us to see who You are and what You are to us. Thank You for being Jehovah our Saviour, even the great I am! Hallelujah, the Lord Jesus is the great I AM, the One who was and who is and who is coming! Amen, Lord, we call on Your name and we enjoy all that You are. What You are meets our every need. We need so many things, Lord, and You are all that we need. May we realise that by calling on the name of the Lord, the great I am is becoming what we need! Hallelujah, Christ is our life, light, holiness, power, wisdom, and righteousness! Thank You, Lord Jesus, for being our way, our Good Shepherd, our resurrection life, and our covering! We take You as whatever we need by calling on Your name! Oh Lord, keep us calling on the name of Jesus! May we not try to make it and do it; may we just call on the name of the Lord and enjoy all that the Great I AM is to us! Hallelujah, Jesus Christ is the I AM, and He is whatever we need! Praise the Lord, we can call on the name of the Lord and enjoy all that God is for our experience today!

Jesus is Jehovah our Saviour, the Great I AM who is our Salvation and who Saves us!

And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21

On the positive side, Jesus is the great I AM, Jehovah God, to be everything to us. Whatever we need, He is. On the other hand, Jesus is Jehovah our Saviour, even Jehovah our salvation, the One who saves us and who Himself is our salvation.

We need to be saved from many things, and we need to be brought into the enjoyment of all that God is. He saves us from our sins. He saves us from hell and from God’s judgment.

Jesus as God our Saviour saves us from eternal condemnation. Many times we realise how terrible our temper is, and we hate it; Jesus can save us from our temper.

He saves us from the evil power of Satan. He saves us from the besetting sins in our daily life. He saves us from any bondage and addiction. He is our Saviour!

As we call on His name, Oh Lord Jesus, again and again, we are saved. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21).

Even more, He is rich to all who call on the name of the Lord, for we are both saved and enjoy all His riches when we call on the name of Jesus (Rom. 10:12-13).

Christ is Jehovah our Saviour and He is our very salvation. He does not just give us things; He doesn’t just give us something called salvation, and then something called life and light.

Rather, He Himself is our salvation, and He Himself is our life and light. He comes to us as our salvation.

Many times we may think we are OK, for we don’t sin and we don’t seem to have that many problems; however, when we call on the name of the Lord, He saves us from all our problems, and He exposes what we are.

To grow in life is, on the positive side, to enjoy the riches of Christ so that He may constitute us with Himself and we may grow with the growth of God.

To grow in life is, at the same time, to be delivered from certain things and forsake certain things; on the negative side, we need to be saved from many negative things.

Simply by living in this world and growing up in the place we are in, we pick up a lot of things. We pick up a lot of negative things without even realising it.

We pick up some habits, some cultural aspects, and some ways of thinking and some philosophies of life which have nothing to do with the Lord.

We just accumulate a lot of things, and we collect a lot of stuff in our being. We need to be saved from all things!

By calling on the name of the Lord Jesus, who is Jehovah our Saviour and our salvation, we are much more saved in His life (Rom. 5:10).

We may not even know what our problem is and what we need to be saved from, but as long as we call on the name of the Lord, He saves instantly and also constantly!

He saves us from anything that is not Himself and He brings us into the enjoyment of what He is.

Christ is our real Joshua, the One who brings us into rest; this rest is Himself as the good land to us (Heb. 4:8; Matt. 11:28-29).

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all and rich to all who call upon Him; For "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Rom. 10:12-13He is our real Joshua who both saves us from the negative things in the past and brings us into the enjoyment of Himself as our rest and our good land.

Christ is the more complete Joshua, bringing us into the full salvation of God, the complete salvation of God!

As we call on the name of the Lord, we are brought out of anything negative and into all that Christ is as the good land.

The Lord’s name, His person, is the all-inclusive compound Spirit (S. S. 1:3; Exo. 30:23-30; Phil. 1:19).

His name is like ointment poured forth. He is the poured out Spirit as the ointment, and we can enjoy Him by calling on His name.

When we call on the name of Jesus, the Spirit of reality brings us into the reality of all that Christ is.

In this name is all we need, and in this name we have the death of Christ, His resurrection, the Spirit, and all the effectiveness and power of His death and resurrection.

If we just call on His name, we enjoy all that He is and we are saved!

Lord Jesus, we call on Your name and we are saved! Hallelujah, whoever calls on the name of the Lord is saved! Praise the Lord, God is our salvation! Amen, Lord, we call on Your name and we believe we are saved from our sins, from hell, from God’s judgment, and from eternal condemnation! You save us from the evil power of Satan, from all our besetting sins in our daily life, and from every bondage and addiction! Amen, Lord, we call on Your name and we enjoy Jehovah our Saviour and our salvation! Even when we don’t know what we need to be saved from, we call on Your name and You are our salvation! Save us and lead us into the full enjoyment of Yourself as the reality of the good land. We call on Your name, Lord Jesus, and we are led by the Spirit of reality into all the reality of what God is to us in Christ! Praise the Lord, the Lord’s name, His person, is the all-inclusive, compound Spirit! Amen, Lord, apply all that You are to our being today! Praise the Lord! Oh Lord Jesus! Amen!

Jesus was the name given by God, whereas Emmanuel was the name called by man. The angel Gabriel told Mary that the child she would conceive was to be called Jesus (Luke 1:31)…Hence, Jesus was a God-given name. The name Jesus includes the name Jehovah. In Hebrew the name God means “the Mighty One,” God the Almighty; and the name Jehovah means “I Am”— I Am Who I Am (Exo. 3:14). The verb to be in Hebrew not only refers to the present but also includes both the past and the future. Hence, the correct meaning of Jehovah is “I Am Who I Am,” the One who is now in the present, who was in the past, and who will be in the future and in eternity forever… Only God is the eternal One. From eternity past to eternity future, He is the I Am. Therefore, the Lord Jesus could say of Himself, “Before Abraham came into being, I am” (John 8:58). He also said to the Jews, “Unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins,” and, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am” (vv. 24, 28). We must realize that Jesus is the great I Am and believe in Him as the great I Am.

When we call on the name of the Lord Jesus, He is Jehovah our Saviour and our salvation.

He is the great I am, the One who is everything we need, and He is also saving us from everything negative.

When we call, oh Lord Jesus, we enjoy Him as our life, peace, rest, satisfaction, and everything that is positive, and we are also saved from anything negative.

Lord Jesus, keep us calling on Your name today to enjoy all that You are and be saved from every negative thing. What You are meets our every need. We take You as our Saviour and as our salvation. Oh Lord Jesus!
