Christ as the preeminent and all-inclusive One is the allotted portion of the saints, and today we need to enjoy the unsearchable riches of Christ in the bountiful life-giving Spirit to build up the church as the Body of Christ, the house of God, and the kingdom of God!
Amen, Lord, we give ourselves to You to enjoy the all-inclusive Christ today in our daily living. Keep us enjoying Your unsearchable riches so that we may build up the house of God and bring in the kingdom of God! Praise the Lord!
This week we come to the book of Colossians, in particular to the first two chapters, and we are focusing on, Enjoying the All-inclusive Christ as the Good Land – Our Allotted Portion.
What a wonderful Christ we have! We believers in Christ need to not only know Christ or about Christ; we need to experience Christ, enjoy Christ, and express Christ.
We need to read the Bible and see the many wonderful aspects of the all-inclusive Christ for us to experience, enjoy, and express in our daily living.
Many times we experience Christ, but we may not enjoy Him; all believers in Christ experience Christ in many ways, but they may not enjoy Him.
On one hand, when we exercise our spirit and learn to contact the Lord throughout the day, we experience Christ. On the other hand, we need to not only experience Christ but also enjoy Christ.
Our need today is to enjoy Christ. We all have to admit that we are short of the enjoyment of Christ.
We may know a lot. We may know about the all-inclusive Christ, we may know that He is unsearchably rich, but this may remain just a knowledge to us; we may not experience, enjoy, and express this rich Christ. What we need today is to learn to enjoy Christ.
Our enjoyment of Christ, however, is based on our experience of Christ. It’s not just about knowing Christ or having some revelation concerning Him; it is a matter of enjoying Christ.
When we enjoy Christ and experience Christ, we will express Christ. The Christ we experience and enjoy will be expressed through us.
As we prayerfully consider the books in the New Testament to see the wonderful aspects of the all-inclusive Christ for our experience and enjoyment, for us to express Him, we come to the book of Colossians.
What a wonderful revelation of Christ we see in Colossians! May the Lord enlighten the eyes of our hearts for us to see Christ, know Christ, experience Christ, enjoy Christ, and express Christ as seen in the book of Colossians!
Christ as the Preeminent and All-inclusive One is the Allotted Portion of the Saints

Colossians 1:12 tells us that we have been qualified by the Father for an allotted portion, even for a share of the allotted portion of the saints in the light. Hallelujah!
Right from the beginning of this book, Paul tells us that we, believers in Christ, need to thank God the Father who qualified us for a share of the allotted portion of the saints in the light.
This surely refers to the picture of the good land in the Old Testament, where the people of Israel were each allotted a portion of the good land after they defeated and cast out the people there.
The allotted portion brings us back to the allotment of the good land in the Old Testament.
Most likely, Paul had a full view of that situation of the children of Israel entering the good land and being allotted portions in the land.
Each tribe in Israel was given a piece of land as their inheritance for them to enjoy.
The apostle Paul applied this to us, the believers in the New Testament; we today have been allotted a portion. Christ as the preeminent and all-inclusive One is the allotted portion of the saints in the light.
The good land was a big deal in the Old Testament; God’s purpose could be fulfilled only in the good land.
The people of God fell in Egypt and were in slavery there for four hundred years, and God decided to rescue them through Moses and bring them out of Egypt.
Their being delivered from Egypt was only the first step; after coming out of Egypt and crossing the Red Sea, they wandered through the wilderness and then entered into the good land.
God’s goal in rescuing His people from Egypt was not just for them to be free but for them to enter the good land where they could build the temple of God as His house and be the kingdom of God for His dominion on the earth.
God’s intention in delivering us from Egypt is not just so that we are saved and then go to heaven; His intention is for us to enter into the enjoyment of Christ as the preeminent and all-inclusive
One as our allotted portion, the reality of the good land. We should never be satisfied with just the fact that we’re saved from perdition.
We praise and thank the Lord that we have God’s eternal life and we are saved from eternal perdition, our sins are taken care of and we are redeemed.
But we want to go forward and arrive at God’s goal, which is for us to enjoy the all-inclusive Christ as our portion.
God’s goal with His people in the Old Testament was to bring them to a good and spacious land flowing with milk and honey.
All their experiences in Egypt, crossing the Red Sea, wandering in the wilderness, and crossing the River Jordan are for this, for them to enjoy the good land so that they may be built up as God’s house and His kingdom.
We may be today in the wilderness of our soul, enjoying Christ as our daily manna, and this is wonderful, for we’re on the way toward the good land; however, we should not be satisfied with this.
We need to experience, enjoy, and express Christ as the all-inclusive One, our God-allotted portion.
The good land is the perfect, complete, and most wonderful type of Christ being so all-inclusive, abundant, plentiful, and with no lack. What a Christ we have!
When we enter into the enjoyment of the all-inclusive Christ, when we are constituted with the riches of Christ, we can build up the church as the house of God and bring in the kingdom of God on the earth.
The allotted portion of the saints in the light refers to the lot of inheritance, as illustrated by the allotment of the good land of Canaan given to the children of Israel for their inheritance (Josh. 14:1).
The good land given to the children of Israel was rich and all-inclusive, having everything they need for them to exist, live, and be the people of God and the kingdom of God on the earth.
The preeminent and all-inclusive Christ is everything we need for us to exist, live, and build up the church as the house of God and the kingdom of God on the earth today.
Thank the Father that He has qualified us for a share of the allotted portion of the saints in the light, that is, for us to experience, enjoy, and express the preeminent and all-inclusive Christ!
Now that we are in Christ as the good land by being in our mingled spirit, we fight the battle in the Lord, labour on Christ, we live and walk in Christ, and we build up the church as the house of God and the kingdom of God. Praise the Lord!
Thank You, Father, for qualifying us for a share of the allotted portion of the saints in the light! Hallelujah, we believers in Christ have been qualified to enjoy the preeminent and all-inclusive Christ as our portion allotted to us by God! Amen, Lord, we exercise our spirit today to just enjoy You. Praise the Lord that we have been delivered out of the authority of darkness and have been transferred into the kingdom of the Son of God’s love! Amen, Lord, thank You for bringing us into Christ, into the all-inclusive Christ as our God-allotted portion. Thank You for not only redeeming us and rescuing us from eternal perdition but even more, giving us an allotted portion of Christ for our enjoyment. We want to enjoy You today. We just want to enjoy You. We give ourselves to You to partake of the unsearchable riches of Christ as our portion in our spirit. Amen, Lord, we stand in Christ, we walk in Christ, we’re rooted in Christ, we enjoy Christ, we experience Christ, and we’re built up in Christ! Praise the Lord!
Enjoy the Unsearchable Riches of Christ to be Built up as the House and Kingdom of God

If we read the first two chapters of Colossians, we can’t help it but notice that Paul had the good land being allotted to the people of Israel in view when he was speaking of our experience as Christians.
In Colossians 1:12 he tells us that Christ is the allotted portion of the saints, then in 2:6 He tells us to walk in Christ and in verse 7 he further says that we’re rooted in Christ.
We are rooted in Christ as the good land, the soil, and we are walking in Christ as the good land to take possession of the land.
When Paul wrote this, he had the allotting of the good land in the Old Testament in mind.
We believers in Christ were not allotted a portion of a physical land; it is the all-inclusive Christ as the life-giving Spirit (Col. 2:6-7; Gal. 3:14).
We need to see that the good land of Canaan is a type of the rich, all-inclusive Christ as the life-giving Spirit for our enjoyment.
The land typifies not only the all-inclusive Christ but particularly the all-inclusive Christ as the life-giving Spirit.
Christ is all-inclusive, and in both the Gospels and the Epistles, we see many aspects of the unsearchable riches of Christ.
He is the life, the light, the way, the bread of life, the living water, righteousness, holiness, peace, joy, patience, endurance, and so many other wonderful things.
But how can we enjoy the all-inclusive Christ as our God-allotted portion? It is by Him being the life-giving Spirit in our spirit.
Through regeneration, we have been rooted in Christ as the good soil and we have been brought into Him as the good land; we now need to absorb His riches and walk in Him take possession of Him and partake of His unsearchable riches.
The all-inclusive Christ is consummated and realised as the life-giving Spirit; when we exercise our spirit and live in the mingled spirit, we enjoy the preeminent and all-inclusive Christ with all His unsearchable riches for the building up of the church.
In the Old Testament, the people of Israel took possession of the good land, each his own allotted portion, and they laboured on the land, reaped the rich produce of the land, and lived because of the land.
Furthermore, they had a surplus to bring to God at their appointed feasts at the temple to feast with God and build up God’s house, even to be the kingdom of God in the good land.
Today, we need to do the same in the spiritual realm. We need to enjoy the unsearchable riches of Christ in the life-giving Spirit by the exercise of our spirit to be built up as the house of God and the kingdom of God on the earth today.
Our Christ is so rich! He’s the reality of the wheat, barley, pomegranates, olives, the vine, and so many other aspects.
We need to not only know Him as such a One but also experience and enjoy the unsearchable riches of Christ to build up the Body of Christ as the house of God and the kingdom of God.
We do this simply by turning from our mind to our spirit and by calling on the name of the Lord.
May we be renewed and strengthened in the matter of the exercise of our spirit; it’s not about shouting out loud, Lord Jesus, but the exercise of our inner being.
Christ needs to be real and personal to us in His unsearchable riches. The riches of the good land typify the unsearchable riches of Christ in different aspects as the bountiful supply to His believers in His Spirit (Deut. 8:7-10; Eph. 3:8; Phil. 1:19).
When we enjoy the unsearchable riches of Christ, we believers in Christ are built up to be the Body of Christ as the house of God and the kingdom of God (Eph. 1:22-23; 2:21-22; 1 Tim. 3:15; Matt. 16:18-19; Rom. 14:17).
On the one hand, we’re built up to be God’s house for His expression. On the other hand, we are empowered and strengthened to fight the battle in the Lord and defeat God’s enemies.
The enemies are always defeated when we enjoy Christ!
May we be such ones today, those who enjoy and experience the unsearchable riches of Christ for the building up of the Body of Christ as the house of God and the kingdom of God!
Lord Jesus, we exercise our spirit to partake of the unsearchable riches of Christ today. Hallelujah, the all-inclusive Christ is our God-allotted portion, and we can enjoy Him today in and as the life-giving Spirit! Amen, Lord, we exercise our spirit to call on Your name from deep within. Oh Lord Jesus! We open to You! We take You as our good land. We enjoy Your riches in spirit. Wow, our preeminent and all-inclusive Christ has many unsearchable riches to be the bountiful supply to us in His Spirit! Hallelujah, the life-giving Spirit is with our spirit today, and we can exercise our spirit to contact the Lord and be filled with His riches! Amen, Lord, may we not only know about the riches of Christ but even more, enjoy the unsearchable riches of Christ in spirit and be built up as the Body of Christ! We want to enjoy the riches of Christ so that the church may be built as God’s house and God’s kingdom on the earth today!

– We have seen Christ is reality: / But it’s not sufficient just to see: / He in our experience must be / Everything to us. / We in prayer behold Him face to face, / In the Word and meetings know His grace; / But in daily life, in every place, / What is He to us? / Hallelujah! By His light we see / Oh, how real, how full our Lord will be / If we’ll only turn to Him at every time, / in every day, / Every thing, in every way and— / Be specific for reality! / And be done with generality! / If we’ll just apply Him, we will see / He’s everything to us. (Hymns #1178 stanza 1)
– Laboring on Jesus, the good land so real, / Plowing and planting and watering the field. / He yields the produce of reality, / God reaps a harvest of Jesus in me. / O Jesus! You’re God’s good land / For me to labor on! / I’ll bit by bit possess You / Until the whole is won! / With Canaan is God’s purpose, / The labor He will bless; / Lord Jesus, here I gain Yourself, / Your Person to possess. (Hymns #1168 stanza 1 and chorus)
– The worship that God so desired / Was not with manna sent from heav’n, / But from their labor on the land / The people’s gifts to God were giv’n. / Thus, what God so desires today. / Are not the miracles so grand, / But daily, normal life in Christ, / As worship, produce of the land. (Hymns #1169 stanzas 3-4)

Life-study of Colossians, pp. 162-165, by Witness Lee
Dear brother, Christ as the preeminent and all-inclusive One is our allotted portion today! Hallelujah!
What we have today is not a physical portion of a land but the all-inclusive Christ as the life-giving Spirit.
We have been transferred out of the authority of darkness and into the kingdom of the Son of God’s love.
We are rooted in Christ, we walk in Christ, and we’re qualified for a share of the allotted portion of the saints in the light, and we just need to enjoy the riches of Christ!
Amen, Christ is typified by the land of Canaan, the good land, as the life-giving Spirit and our allotted portion.
Christ is the territory in which we walk so that God’s purpose can be fulfilled. How wonderful our Lord is.
Our inheritance of the allotted portion of the good land is Christ as the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit who dwells in our spirit. This is “the blessing of Abraham, the promise of the Spirit.” Our walking, living, and enjoying all its rich produce equals our experiencing and enjoying the realms of Christ. This is the central matter in the New Testament! Christ is the reality of the good land. (Col. 1:12-13; Gal. 3:14).
We have to exercise our spirit to appropriate the vast, unsearchable, bountiful aspects of the territory of this Christ! (Phil.1:19).
Hallelujah, this Christ is the wonderful Spirit in our spirit! To be empowered to defeat the enemies in the land and build up the church as God’s temple, house, and kingdom can only be done by our eating and enjoying the riches of the produce of this Christ. Lord, for this, strengthen us to eat You day by day!
Waooo how wonderful to have Christ as our portion and the saints are portioned, it is not only individually but with the saints in light, that portion all-inclusive!
Yes, the New Testament is the reality of the Old Testament, and Jesus Christ is the reality of the Land which is allotted to Labour on it/Him.
Amen. The Lord as the All-inclusive Spirit and we need to enjoy Him as such a portion for the building up of the church and the establishing of His Kingdom.
Brother, in order to be rooted in Christ, He must be our land and our soil.
The Christ who is typified by the land of promise is the processed Triune God as the life-giving Spirit.
Christ is our good land and His various riches (attributes) are typified by the good land. Our enemies are always defeated when we enjoy Jesus.
Living the church life, defeating the enemies, establishing the kingdom of God, and building the house of God issues out from the enjoyment of the riches of Christ.
Christ is our land, our territory, our realm in which we can walk!
We need to experience such an all-inclusive Christ as our portion!!
The enjoyment of Christ empowers us to defeat the enemies and establish the Kingdom of God!
Praise the Lord!!!
A song on this topic is, Take Time to Behold Him.
1. Take time to behold Him,
Speak oft with Thy Lord,
Abide in Him always,
And feed on His Word.
Wait thou in His presence,
Submissive and meek,
Forgetting in nothing
His blessing to seek.
2. Take time to behold Him,
The world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret
With Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus
Like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends, in thy conduct,
His likeness shall see.

Praise the Lord, brother for the book of Colossians, where we see the portrait of the good land!
The good land is an all-inclusive type of Christ, the processed Triune God as the life-giving Spirit as our life, supply, and everything!
In Christ as our good land we have our living, we defeat the enemies, the kingdom of God is established, and building the house of God is completed.
All these issue out from the enjoyment of the riches of Christ as the good land.
