The Lord Jesus as our Physician mainly heals us in our spirit and our soul, not mainly in our body; He sees the illnesses of our spirit and soul, and He has healing authority by His word to heal us, if we just come to Him and realise we are sick, in need of Him as our Physician.
Lord Jesus, we need You as our Physician. You see our sicknesses and all our ailments. You see how much we are hurt in our soul. Oh Lord, we give ourselves to You today. We come to You as we are. Heal us in every part of our soul. Heal us of any inward sickness. Heal us of our sins. Oh Lord, keep us coming to You as our Physician so that we may be fully healed! Amen!
The Lord Jesus did not come to bring a new religion, even the best religion; rather, He came outside of religion, He was hated by religion, and Christ is versus religion.
Where Christ is, there is no religion, and religion is something that has nothing to do with Christ. May we be saved from merely having Scriptural expertise without a fresh and living touch with the Lord, the living person.
May we come to the Lord in His word and throughout the day through the exercise of our spirit to just touch Him and enjoy Him.
May we be those who are poor in spirit, open to the Lord to receive more of Him, and emptied from within to enjoy and experience Him as our Physician.
We all have to admit that we are so short in our enjoyment and experience of the all-inclusive Christ.
Sometimes we may enjoy a few aspects of Christ, but then we remain in the same spot, not advancing with Him to enjoy all that He is.
May the Lord have mercy on us and grant us to be emptied and unloaded so that we may experience Christ in a fresh way day by day.
May we learn to take Christ as the reality of all the positive things. He is the reality of our food and drink, and He is also the reality of the air we breathe.
As we live our Christian life, we need to deal with the Lord concerning many things and open to Him, asking Him to lead us into a deeper and more subjective experience of Him.
We are not satisfied with what we have experienced of Christ; we are not content with where we are and what we have.
We simply open to the Lord and want to have new experiences of Christ every day.
Especially as we read that Christ is our Physician, we should not think that we understand what this means and then move on.
May we open to the Lord to show us what it means that Christ is our Physician, and may we enjoy and experience Him as such a One in our daily living.
As our Physician, the Lord Jesus Heals us Mainly in our Spirit and our Soul

In Matthew 9:10-13 the Lord Jesus introduces Himself as the Physician; however, what this portion reveals is not mainly that He’s healing us physically of our physical sicknesses but spiritually and psychologically.
He came not only to heal us in our body of our physical ailments and diseases; He came as our Physician to heal us mainly in our spirit and our soul.
The Lord Jesus heals our spiritual illness, the illness of sin. Our physical illnesses come and go, but they do not affect our entire being; our spiritual illness, the illness of sin, however, is something very serious.
Sin came in first, and then death follows; we are sick both physically and spiritually and mentally. Our spirit, soul, and body are sick; the Lord Jesus as the Forgiver and the Physician, is able to heal all our sicknesses.
The Lord Jesus forgives our sins and also heals us in every way. Between sin and death, there are all kinds of illnesses, diseases, and infirmities. Oh Lord!
May we see that, as sinners, we are sick absolutely, for we are sick physically, spiritually, morally, and mentally. But Jesus, our dear Lord Jesus as the Forgiver and the Physician, is able to heal all our sicknesses.
All sicknesses are due to sin; Christ came to deal with sin and to heal us of our sin. The sinners around the Lord Jesus were not mainly sick in their body but in their spirit and in their soul.
When the Lord healed their body or miraculously fed them, the inward spiritual and mental illnesses were not touched or dealt with.
But when He forgives their sins, He also releases them from the power of sin so that they go and sin no more. As the Lord Jesus was feasting with the sinners and tax collectors, He was healing them spiritually.
Thank the Lord that He is here with us, even in our spirit, and He is our Physician to heal us of all our spiritual and psychological illnesses.
He is our Physician to heal us mainly in our spirit and in our soul. Nowadays, people want to take care of their mental health, and there’s a lot of emphasis on opening up and speaking about your problems.
While this has some value and brings in some benefit, the Lord Jesus is our Physician to really heal us in our soul and in our spirit.
When we think about going to a physician, we realise that we have an illness, and we are quite vulnerable and fragile. However, when the physician consults us and talks to us, his attitude puts us at ease.
Many times, the physicians are the most wonderful people, for they are so caring in their attitude toward their patients.
We may have discovered something that is wrong in our body or we may just go for a routine test, but as soon as the physician talks to us, we are put at ease, and we know we are in good hands.
This is what happens in the physical realm. In the spiritual realm, the Lord Jesus is our Physician to heal us, and when we open to Him and come to Him, we are not condemned or criticised by Him but rather, He shepherds us, He cares for us in love, and He heals us.
We all can testify that so many times we came to Him with a particular problem, and we thought that He would condemn us or not listen to us; however, our Physician hears us, listens to us, and is willing to heal us.
We are in a delicate, tender, and vulnerable situation and condition as patients, as sick ones; our Physician is tenderly caring for us and supplying us as He speaks to us (Psa. 103:2-3).
Even in our physical sickness, as we come to a physician and we are told what the problem is, we can inwardly open to the Lord and enjoy His inward healing.
He is tenderly caring for us. He has mercy on us. He has compassion on us. He is with us where we are.
If we just come to Him, Christ as our Physician will heal us of our spiritual and mental sicknesses. As we go on with the Lord, as we advance in faith and in the Christian life, many things are happening to us.
There may be some illness that comes, there may be some changes in our circumstances, we may make some mistakes, we may experience a family tragedy, or we may have a major disappointment.
We all suffer many things simply because we are human beings and we go through things. We may even be mistreated in the church life, and we may be offended with the saints or with the church.
When we go to work, we are exhausted and worn out by the enemy. When we meet with the saints, there may be some mistreatment or we may sense spiritual deadness among the saints.
May we come to the Lord in all these things. May we bring our problems, sicknesses, and hurts to Him. He is our Physician to heal us in our spirit and our soul.
Lord Jesus, thank You for coming as our Physician to heal us mainly in our spirit and our soul. We open to You. Keep us coming to You as we are, with all our problems and sicknesses. Oh Lord, we are not righteous, not even a bit, but we come to You! Have mercy on us, the sinners! You see our sick condition. You see our sicknesses in our soul and in our spirit. We cannot heal ourselves. We cannot cure our own sicknesses. Oh Lord, we come to You as our Physician. Heal us in our spirit and in our soul. We open to You all the hurts, misunderstandings, and problems in our mind, emotion, and will. We come to You as the Forgiver and the Physician, believing that You are able to heal all our sicknesses. Oh Lord, may we be with You where You are, enjoying Your presence, and being under Your healing! Thank You for coming for the sinners, not for the righteous; we come to You as we are, and we want to enjoy and experience Your healing, for You are our Physician!
Come to the Lord as our Physician to be Healed by Him through His Word with His Authority

We may think that now that we are Christians, we are no longer sick, for the Lord healed us of our sin; however, as we go on with the Lord, we realise that we are still sick, and we need the Lord’s healing in our spirit and soul.
The apostle Paul shared his experience in Romans 7; he wanted to do the good, but there was something in his being that stopped him to do it and even overpowered him to do the evil which he did not want to do.
He arrived at the conclusion that he was a wretched man, for the flesh serves sin but in his spirit he serves God. What he worked out he did not acknowledge, but what he hated is what he did; this is sin dwelling in us (v. 15).
He was struggling; there is a struggle between the flesh and the spirit, between sin and Satan dwelling in our flesh and the law of mind in our spirit.
Until he found the law of the Spirit of life which freed him from the law of sin and of death, he was a wretched man (Rom. 8:2). Many times this is our experience.
We want to do the good, we want to be kind to others, we want to love them, and we want to serve God, but there’s something else in us, a spiritual and mental sickness, that causes us to not do the good we want but the sin we do not want. Oh Lord!
As we go through many experiences in our Christian life, we need to come to the Lord as our Physician to be healed in our spirit and our soul.
He did not come as a Judge to judge us according to righteousness; rather, He came as a Physician to heal us in His love and mercy. He heals us by His word with His authority.
We see this in Matthew 8:8, where the centurion wanted the Lord to just speak a word and his servant would be healed.
When we have the Lord’s speaking, His word with His authority heals us. If He only speaks a word, we are healed; we exercise our spirit of faith as we come to the Word and to the meetings of the church, and we are healed.
As we realise we are the sick ones, those who are sick with all kinds of diseases and ailments spiritually and mentally, we come to the Lord as our Physician and He heals us by His speaking.
May we not stay away from the Word of God when we fail again and again, and may we come to Him as we are in our personal time with Him (Jer. 30:17).
Also, may we come to Him in the meetings, coming together with the saints to enjoy the Lord and partake of His riches.
It is in the meetings with the saints and in our personal time with Him that the Lord has a way to speak a word to us, and we are healed (Psa. 73:7; 20:2; 77:13).
Many times we don’t even know what is our sickness; we just know that we are sick, we can’t fulfill God’s will, and we can’t even get ourselves up to walk in God’s way. But we still come to the Lord.
We come to Him to obtain a word from Him. His word with His authority touches us and heals us. The Lord’s healing is not merely a matter of His ability to heal; His healing is a matter of authority.
The Lord has the authority to heal us of our sick condition; may we come to Him as our Physician.
May we not be religious as the Pharisees, thinking that we can do this and that thing for God, so now we are ok; may we come to Him as our Physician to be healed.
We are the most blessed people to enjoy Christ as our Physician! We are the weak ones, the frail ones, and the ill ones, but we can come to the Lord as our Physician and enjoy His healing in His word!
Although the Lord Jesus may not heal us in our body, He is always ready to heal us in every part of our spirit and soul. May we come to Him again and again!
Lord Jesus, thank You for being our Physician. We come to You as we are. We bring You all our sicknesses and illnesses. Oh Lord, we cannot do what You require us to do, for whenever we choose to do the good, evil rises in us and defeats us! Speak to us a word, Lord, so that we may be healed! We believe that You are able to heal us and You have the authority in Your word to bring healing to our inner being! Only speak a word, Lord, and we will be healed! Speak to us in our time with You. Speak to us in the meetings of the church. Speak to us again and again. Oh Lord, keep us coming to You with all things, in all things, and concerning all things. May we never try to hide from Your shining, thinking that we are righteous and do not need a Physician. Oh Lord, as the sick ones, we come to You as our Physician to be healed by You! Praise the Lord that, although the Lord may not heal us in our body, He is always ready to heal us in every part of our spirit and soul!

Life study of Matthew, pp. 313-314, by Witness Lee
Dear brother, the Lord Jesus is our Physician, and even though He may not heal us in our body, He is able and willing to heal us in our spirit and our soul.
Our sickness is mainly in our soul and spirit. May we come to Him with our sicknesses and illnesses.
May we be in His word and in the meetings of the church to receive His fresh speaking with His authority so that we may be healed. He bore our sicknesses and illnesses, and we can just come to Him to be healed.
Ameeen. O Lord, indeed, a word from you brings us healing
Thank you Lord for coming to us as the physician
In Matthew 9 we see the Lord doesn’t come as a Judge but as a Physician. Matthew reveals Christ as the Physician. If you have this vision, we will have faith in Him and trust Him whenever we are sick physically, spiritually, or mentally.
The Lord Jesus as our Physician came to forgive and heal us as sinners.
Once we see this vision of Jesus as our Physician, the one who is our heavenly King who has the authority to heal when He speaks a word, although He mainly heals us in our spirit and soul, He can also heal us physically.
He only needs to speak a word to heal us through His divine authority.
We need to accept that we are not righteous but sinners, sick mentally, spiritually or physically.
If we have this vision, we will have faith and trust in the Lord.
Amen!! Thank you Lord for being our Physician!
